Two fun and scenic races through Flushing Meadows Corona Park!

Ready to ‘run around the world’? Then this event is for you!

Both races take place in Flushing Meadows Park on a scenic and relatively flat course that includes a gentle curve around ‘The World’ - the iconic 140-ft tall World’s Fair Unisphere.

Event details and schedule

 

Choose one of the following three options:

1-Mile Sprint: 9:30 a.m. start. Begins with a 150-meter downhill, followed by a 450-meter flat straightaway, 250-meter curve ‘around the world’ (Unisphere), 450 meter flat straightaway, 200-meters over a small hill, final 100 meters is a curve to the right and a short straightaway to the finish line. view course map

4-Mile Race: 10:00 a.m. start. Two laps around a 2-mile loop. The loop includes the 1-mile section described above (you get to run around the world twice!), and a 1-mile section to the south that touches the shores of Meadow Lake. view course map

1+4 CHALLENGE: Are you up for the CHALLENGE? Run the 1-Mile Sprint at 9:30 am, catch your breath, rest up and then set off on the 4-Mile Race at 10am! Awards given for competitors with the fastest combined 1-mile and 4-mile times.

AMENITIES:
Bag check, aid stations every mile, free T-shirt (guaranteed if registered by November 18), post-race refreshments for all participants.

AWARDS:
1-mile & 4-mile: For both Male and Female: Top 7 under 50, top 3: 50-59, top 2: 60-69, Top 1: 70 and over.
1+4 CHALLENGE: For both Male and Female: Top 3: under 50, top 1: 50 and over
Awards ceremonies: 1-mile at 10:05 a.m., 4-mile and 1+4 CHALLENGE at 10:45 a.m.

TIME LIMITS:
1-Mile: 20 minutes
4-Mile: 1 hour (15 minute/mile pace)

AGE RESTRICTIONS:
For all races, participants must be 13 or older.

REGISTRATION AND FEES:

Register by Mail: Download Entry Form.  Must be postmarked no later than Friday, November 18
Race-day registration: 8:30 - 9:15 am on race day, except for the 4-mile registration: 8:30-9:30 am. Cash, check, money order ONLY. Sorry, no credit cards.

Early registration: Through Friday, November 18 (online or by mail)
Late registration: November 19 - December 2, 5:00 pm (online only)
Race-day registration: 8:30 - 9:15 am on race day, except for 4-mile registration which is 8:30-9:30 a.m. Cash, check, money order ONLY. (Sorry, no credit cards)

1-mile: Early $20, Late $25, Race-day $30
4-mile: Early $25, Late $30, Race-day $35
1+4 CHALLENGE: Early $30, Late $35, Race-day $40

Entries cannot be transferred to another person.

T-SHIRTS:
Free "I Ran Around the World!" race T-Shirts for all participants registered by November 18 (Early Registration).
For Late Registration and Race-Day Registration, remaining T-Shirts will be available after the race on a first-come first-serve basis.
T-Shirt sizes are Unisex: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large

RACE PACKET PICKUP:
8:30-9:15 a.m. on race day, except for the 4-mile: 8:30-9:30 a.m.

DIRECTIONS:
At 1.4 square miles, Flushing Meadows is a huge park (larger than Central Park), please familiarize yourself with the map and directions before race day - whether you’re driving or taking the subway, we don’t want you to get lost! There is free parking next to the race staging area.

RESULTS:
Will be posted on the race webpage within 24 hours.
