The 2016 Hope Byrant Smith Memorial 5K and Fun Run offers a beautiful and memorial experience race as it takes runners through the University of Montevallo’s campus and nearby horse farms. Runners will race across both road and trail conditions which gives the runners a great perspective of the area. The trail courses along a babbling brook which is very pleasing. The halfway point of the course is at a nearby horse farm where you can test yourself against the horses that playfully race along with you.
The race will use all proceeds after expenses to support the Hope Bryant Smith Service Scholarship
at the University of Montevallo, a not-for-profit organization. This scholarship is awarded to a current student who has demonstrated the highest standards of service to their community.
The race will begin at the Student Activity Center which offers showers, restrooms, air conditioned spaces, and ample parking for participants. We'll be offering runners who complete their race water and a banana at the finish line. Participants will also receive a tee shirt and take away bag.
This will be a family friendly event that includes a fun run. It is stroller and pet friendly. It is open to all ages. Registered adults in the fun run should feel free to bring their children along for the run, but only registered participants will receive the tee shirts and bag.
Come join us at the University of Montevallo. Tell your friends and share the event. We hope it will be a beautiful fall day!
