The Victory Over Vasculitis 5K is a run/walk fundraiser to bring awareness to the Vasculitis Foundation (VF). VF is the international advocacy group for people with vasculitis. The VF raises awareness of vasculitis in the general public and educates patients and family members about the disease - from diagnosis, during treatment and remission. Today, with advances in diagnosis and effective treatments, long-term remission is possible and vasculitis is treated as a chronic illness. The VF hosts webinars, regional conferences, international symposia, local chapters, and area contacts to connect patients with vasculitis experts.

Vasculitis is a family of 15 rare, autoimmune diseases which strike people of all ages, from young children to the elderly. There is no known cause and no cure for vasculitis. Receiving an early diagnosis and effective treatment are critical to patients surviving and avoiding long-term complications from the side effects of the medications and disease.

This event will have a guest speaker, who is an expert in Vasculitis, talk about Vasculitis and what it does, as well as a booth to provide more information about the Vasculitis Foundation and to further explain Vasculitis. T-shirts are provided in the cost of admission and hot chocolate and snacks will be provided for free. 

This event is brought to you by associates from the Northland Center for Advanced Professional Studies (NCAPS) medicine and health care strand. Our goal is to raise money and bring awareness to Vasculitis. 

Event details and schedule

Saturday, December 3rd

Packet pickup will open at 7:50 AM. Guest Speakers will begin at 8:45 AM. The race begins at 9:30 AM. 

The course consists of road and parts of grass. Upon arrival, turn into the school at the stop light and parking will be directed with signs. Upon completion of the race, you will be directed into the school where snacks and hot chocolate will be provided. There, awards will be handed out to the winners of the appropriate age division. 

The theme is an ugly sweater run. Be sure to wear your ugliest holiday sweater to win a prize in the ugliest sweater contest.
