Penn State's Aerospace Studies Student Organization invites you to run and/or donate to The Freedom 5k For PTSD. This event is a joint service supported philanthropic effort to raise money and awareness for PTSD. PTSD is one of the leading epidemics impacting our nation's veterans. Our benefactor, The Lone Survivor Foundation, hosts retreats to provide psychiatric treatment to veterans and their families. The Lone Survivor Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization founded by former Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell. Medal of Honor recipient LT Michael Murphy, also featured in book The Lone Survivor, is a Penn State Alumni. In honor of LT Murphy's spirit and sacrifice, our goal is to raise at least $25,000 to fund an entire retreat hosted by the Lone Survivor Foundation. To commemorate all veterans, the 5k route intentionally passes by Penn State's Veteran's Plaza on campus. Please register to run or donate directly to the Freedom 5k For PTSD event. Each person who registers or donates over $25 will receive a Freedom 5k T-Shirt."
