Harmony celebrates New Year’s Eve on Dec. 31 with a family-oriented "Silvester" celebration reflecting the community’s historic German roots, beginning with a 5k race and a 1 Mile Fun Run at with hundreds of runners and concluding with a count-down in German to a ball-drop and fireworks welcoming 2016 at 6 p.m. - midnight in Germany. Other activities include a Christmas tree throwing contest, Bleigiessen, the German tradition of examining the shape of a bit of melted lead dropped into water to interpret what the New Year may hold, a pork and sauerkraut dinner at the Harmony Museum - cost is $12 (no reservations) and other outdoor food options, music, year-end surprises at specialty shops throughout town. Parking is available at various locations.

NOTE RACE TIMES: In order to help with traffic control, the 5K race will start at 3:30; 1 Mile at 4:15. Day-of registration and bib and shirt pick-up inside Grace Church Youth Center. Parking available at the church and surrounding areas (all within walking distance). Bring clothes to change into if you want to stay for the count-down. Note that the Youth Center will close following the races so we can all go enjoy the count-down. Be sure to take your belongings with you. Early bib and shirt pick-up at the Youth Center on Dec 30th from 3 - 7. Hope to see you there!
