The French Broad River Half Marathon will be held on October 21, 2017. The purpose of this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle and bring fitness awareness to individuals and families. This event will help support the social and economic growth of Madison County and the Town of Marshall, North Carolina.

The Half Marathon race will begin and end in historical downtown Marshall North Carolina. This is a rolling flat out-and-back race alolong the French Broad River and a PR caliber course.

The goal of this event is to bring a race to Western North Carolina that gives runners a chance to utilize the beautiful views of the countryside while running alongside one of the world’s oldest rivers. This race offers the fastest course in Western North Carolina and will award runners for their hard efforts.

What Makes This Events Special to Western North Carolina?
First, the layout of the course provides participants an alternative from the hilly mountain course by providing a rolling flat course along the French Broad River. The course will be USATF certified meaning it will be a qualifying course for runners to mark a time that will make them eligible for the USA Half Marathon Championship and the Olympic Trials. This course is also home to the 2016 USA Cycling National Championship time trial, and as such the course will be accurate and professionally measured. Second, with the event being held in late October provides participants with a scenic view of the river and the change in the color of the fall leaves every step to the finish line. Third, this event embraces all levels of runners, from the first time half marathoner, to post college elites in the area.
