Course Info

The Saxapahaw Heron Trot follows the route of the Hawbridge School Cross Country course. The race begins in a large open field, quickly turning onto a wide path surrounding Saxapahaw Village Farm. The course parallels Motes Creek before crossing two small bridges. After crossing the creek twice, runners are now passing through Cane Creek Farm. The course climbs a hill past an old bus and a yurt, bringing runners to a gravel road that they will follow past many of the farms animals. As they leave Cane Creek, runners will turn into the woods, follwing a wide trail back to Saxapahaw Village Farm. Once back on he farm, they will turn right, and climb the largest hill on the course. As they crest the top of the hill, runners will be treated to spectacular views of the surrounding area. The course then continues around the perimeter of the farm, taking them back to the starting area. After passing the starting area once, runners will continue around the perimeter of Saxapahaw Village Farm one last time before finishing on the large field where they started.
