Description

We're pleased to bring back the Cupid 5K with some fun twists this year. When you register, you'll indicate whether you're "attached" or "unattached". Those who are available will have a designation on their race bib so that someone who's looking will know that they're available. Following the race, all racers will be invited to Overtime - The Shelburne Field House Sports Bar for a mimosa or beer (included in your registration). There will be non-alcoholic beverages to choose from for those who do not drink or are not of age. We'll have our regular post-race munchies including bagels and fresh fruit, but Overtime will also be offering some breakfast specials that morning. Everyone whose registration is received by January 21 will receive a FREE race shirt! Any shirts not picked up will be available for sale following the race.

We're also trying something new this year - SPEED DATING! For anyone who is "unattached", you're  invited to try this out. At the least, you could meet a new friend, but who knows? Maybe Cupid can do his magic! Since we'll be doing this for the first time, there is no additional cost to participate, just let us know you want to join in the fun on your registration form. Speed Dating will start after our awards ceremony. For those participating, there will be time to shower after the race. Come join the fun!

Event details and schedule

Welcome to the Cupid 5K on Saturday, February 11! What better day to be out running with your sweetheart if you’re already attached, or finding a new one if you’re not? We’re thrilled to have you join us. This should be a really fun race! Read below for lots of important information for both pre-race and race-day.

Pre-race Packet Pickup: Again this year, racers will be able to pick up their numbers and other relevant items at Fleet Feet Sports in Essex Junction, VT the day before the race. Fleet Feet Sports is located at 77 Pearl Street (just up the street from the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds) and hours of pickup for this particular race will be Friday, from noon until 4:00 pm. You may pick up your own packet as well as that of a friend as long as your friend doesn’t need to sign a waiver. Those who pick up their packet the day before the race do not need to arrive until just prior to the Pre-Race meeting scheduled for 9:45 am on Saturday. For those wishing to pick up their packets on race day, please arrive as early as you are able.

The Divisions: When you registered for the race, you chose either the Attached or the Unattached division. Those who are "unattached" will notice a designation on their race bib. If your division has changed since registering, please let the Registration & Timing staff know by emailing [email protected] (don't forget to mention which race you're in).

The Course: This 5K will be an out-and-back course running along Harbor Road. The start line is in front of Shelburne Field House. The course is relatively flat and goes from the Field House, up Harbor Road to just before Bay Road where you will turn around and return to where you started. There will be a mass start to this race.

Some important notes about race day and the race:

  • Please park at the Shelburne Community School, Shelburne Town Hall or at the Shelburne Rail Road Station. All are an easy walk to/from The Field House. Parking will not be allowed at Shelburne Field House due to the danger that exiting cars pose to our racers who are still finishing.

  • Due to the fact that you will be running entirely on a road, the use of personal music devices is HIGHLY DISCOURAGED at this race. Not only do we want you to hear traffic that may be headed your way, but race volunteers or the timing team may need to get your attention.

  • Racevermont.com has no objection to and does not discourage the safe and prudent use of strollers or baby joggers during our races. Stroller or baby joggers or similar devices should be started in the back of the runners and walkers.

  • Racers must be courteous to other racers, volunteers, race officials, spectators at all times. Unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification.

  • Racers must adhere to/abide by instructions, warnings, course signs from race director, race officials, volunteers, police, state and local traffic laws.

  • Please stay right going out and left returning (you’ll always be running on the north side of Harbor Road

  • All athletes must clearly display their bib #’s on the front of their body throughout the course

  • Race numbers MUST BE VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES, BUT ESPECIALLY WHEN APPROACHING THE FINISH LINE.

Thank you for supporting the RaceVermont.com 2017 Race Series . The great success of the RaceVermont.com Race Series is due to your continued participation and to the volunteers who help support Racevermont.com and all of our racers throughout the year. We all look forward to seeing you many times during the 2017 race season.

Be well,
