The Race benefit the athletes of the Baton Rouge Girls Athletic Organization to defray cost associated with competition, travel and fees.

Baton Rouge Girls Amateur Athletic Organization (BRGAAO) is a tax-exempt organization (501©) that has been in operation since 1985 or 30 years. The Baton Rouge Lady Tigers AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball program is funded by the organization.

The purpose of our program is to help promote and develop female amateur athletes and to increase playing skills by participation at the local, state, and national levels. Our goal within the Baton Rouge Lady Tigers surpasses just mere athletics and leads us into a much more detailed mission. The mission of our program is to offer young ladies unique opportunities that arise through athletics and to demonstrate through practical experiences that teamwork, dedication to goals, focused effort and practice are pathways to success. We continuously promote self-awareness, integrity, academics and humanitarianism.

We seek to make our athletic program a safe haven for young ladies to sample life's successes and failures through the sport of basketball so that they may apply lessons learned to their daily lives. Over the past 30 years, we have assisted hundreds of former players in obtaining athletic scholarships to colleges and universities, including the current director. Today, many former players maintain four year degrees and post graduate degrees and many have actually become coaches (assistants and head) thanks to this program.
