5K Color Walk/Run for This Able Veteran...

• 5k Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

This is the third annual "really close to almost 5K Color Run/Walk." For those of you who have participated before, you know what to expect - FUN, lots of color, some crazy costumes, informal, not timed, a great cause, oh and FUN. 

This Able Veteran is a 501c(3) organization training and providing service dogs and a trauma resiliency program for veterans with psychological and physical injuries as a result of their service at no cost to the veteran. It is fundraisers like "the really close to almost 5K Color Run/Walk" that make this possible.

Organized by a This Able Veteran graduate, Dan McNeil, and his wife, Beth, to help other veterans as Dan had been when he was paired with his service dog, Brooks. This will be the third year Dan has served as race director. When they first started planning, they had a goal of raising $25,000 by their third year. This goal was so that the race would entirely sponsor a veteran/PTSD service dog from puppyhood through graduation.

Last year's race memorialized those who have been lost to PTSD, and featured runners and walkers with photographs of military members who lost their battle. Photographs of the racers were sent on to the families to let them know that though their loved one is gone, they are not forgotten. Dan and Beth have decided the focus of this year is on HOPE. PTSD does not have to be a life sentence. There is hope and healing for those with PTSD. Dan is living proof. We are so proud to report that they are well poised to reach their goal this year!

Please note: We recommend all runners wear goggles while running through color stations. Children age 5 and under can run/walk free but must have one adult per child. Parent/legal guardian must sign waiver on the day of the race or at the pre-registration locations. We encourage you to have the child wear swimming goggles to protect their eyes from the powder. Tshirts are not included for children participating for free, but will be included if they are a paid race participant.
