The 6th annual Sozo Children Run for a Reason is planned for Saturday, April 1st 2017. The theme of this event is “Run for a Reason.” 100% of the proceeds raised will be used to “sozo” (save or rescue) vulnerable children in Uganda, East Africa.
Race through the heart of Avondale, just outside downtown Birmingham. All levels are welcome, whether you crawl or run, we want you to join us! So bring the family! Your pets are welcome too!
After the run, stick around for local food trucks, vendors, and special activities for the kids!
OUT OF TOWN?
For those who are out-of-town and can't make the event, you can register as an "out-of-towner", map and run your own 5K in your own city on race day. We send you a t-shirt and you post a picture of you running with #myreason to show your reason and support of Sozo Children's work around the globe.
Look out for emails to include instructions on arrival info, course info, and a complete schedule!
Awards featuring Ugandan and local prizes will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall runner, AND the first place runner in each male and female age category.
**A shoe collection will also take place before and after the Run. The shoes will be used to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and to support micro-business efforts to eradicate poverty in the villages near Sozo Children.
