Rape Crisis works to build a community free from sexual violence.

About Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services

Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services (RCSAS) is a nonprofit community-based program established in 1975 as a grassroots response to the needs of victims of rape and sexual assault in Augusta, Georgia. For 42 years, RCSAS has served the counties of the greater Augusta region, providing help at no cost for survivors of child abuse and sexual assault and their families regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred or whether is was reported. www.rapecrisisaugusta.org or https://www.facebook.com/RCSAS

Race Route

ALL DOWNHILL! AUGUSTA'S FASTEST 5K! The USTAF-certified 5K (3.1 mile) course will begin at the Augusta University Amphitheater (Summerville campus), continue through the campuses of Paine College and AU Health Sciences campus and end in front of University Hospital located at 1350 Walton Way. Shuttles will be available to transport runners and walkers back to AU Summerville campus.

5K timing

The electronic timing for our race is provided. Results will be available after the race on Active.com and on the RCSAS website www.rapecrisisaugusta.org

5K T-shirts

Event t-shirts will be available to participants who register to run or walk by April 13, 2017. T-shirts are not guaranteed to participants who register after April 13 or on the day of the event. Extras will be ordered but they will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. Adult sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL will be available.

Walkers

Walkers are encouraged to participate! As the course is entirely downhill, it's great for children and families!

Strollers/ Dogs

All runners and walkers are welcome to bring strollers and dogs on leashes. This is a family-friendly event! Please be mindful of other race and walk participants.  Dog owners will need to arrange for their own transportation back to the start line.

Why "Take Back the Day?"

The first Take Back the Day Walk was held in 2010 as a spin-off from Augusta's annual Take Back the Night Rally. The term "Take Back the Night" originated in 1976 in Belgium when a march for women was held to "reclaim the night they were raped". RCSAS is glad to extend the TBTN Rally with the TBTD 5k Run/Walk, to continue to spread awareness of sexual violence in our community and reclaim women's, men's, and children's rights to move freely, day and night, without sexual violence.
