43rd Health Focus of Southwest Virginia Salem Distance Run and 3-Mile Walk – August 12, 2017

Location: Longwood Park 106 E Main St. Salem, VA 24153

Race founder: Richard Browder, retired track coach, Roanoke College

5K: Race starts at 8:00 am, $25.00 (includes t-shirt). Additional $5.00 if mailed or registered after August 5th.

 10K: Race starts at 8:00 am, $30.00 (includes t-shirt). Additional $5.00 if mailed or registered after August 5th.

5k Walk: Walk starts at 8:00 am, $25.00 (includes t-shirt). Additional $5.00 if mailed or registered after August 5th.

Registration: Friday, August 11, 5:00-7:00 pm or Saturday, August 12, 6:30-7:40 am at Longwood Park

An online option will be available soon.

Packet Pickup: Friday, August 11, 5:00-7:00 pm or Saturday, August 12, beginning at 6:30 am at Longwood Park

Rules & Details

No dogs in park by Salem City Police Ordinance
No pets or strollers, please.
The first 400 runners/walkers enjoy $5 off of a dinner at Mama Maria’s Italian Restaurant.
Cut-off for race day registration is 7:40 a.m. and is limited to the first 600 runners.
Both races start near “Easter Seals” at 201 East Main Street.
Award presentations are in Longwood Park immediately following the races.

Long time runner and friend to Health Focus and Salem, Michael Wardian has been traveling the globe, racing in Hong Kong, New Zealand and Tokyo. He currently is the points-leader in the Ultra Trail World Tour and just ran a 2:28:14 marathon in Tokyo. 2016 will be another incredible year with races spanning all distances from 5k to 100-milers or more and Michael's big goal is to set the fastest overall time at the Abbott World Marathon Majors which will take place in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City marathons. It will be an incredible year and Michael is so excited to be a part of the tradition in Salem.
