- Malia Jusczyk is a Plainville, MA second grader who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer. Since her diagnosis 6 years ago, Malia has spent more time in the hopsital than any child should in their lifetime. Malia has endured 6 rounds of chemo, 9 hours of tumor resection surgery, a stem cell transplant, removal of a kidney and an adrenal gland, 12 rounds of proton radiation, countless blood transfusions, immunotherapy and much more.
The good news is Malia show No Evidence of Disease (NED), and is over 4 years cancer free! However the harsh reality is that more then 60% of children do not survive, the rate of relapse for those that do is 50% until they are 5 years cancer free and there is no known cure for relapse. Better treatment is needed for the #1 disease killer of US children (cancer!) and studies are waiting for funding.
On June 10th, 2017 For Kids' Sake Foundation is hosting a 5k and 10k in Plainville, MA to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. We could use your help!
Both the 5k and 10k start and the Old Wood School and end at the town hall.
