Come celebrate Earth Day and heed the Call of the Wild by joining us in The Race Against Extinction 5K Run/Walk & Bear Cub Kids Fun Run!

We are looking for: 

• Cheetahs (experienced and first-time runners)

• Bear Cubs (children under 12 for a 1K jaunt)

• Tortoises (walkers)

• Gazelles (inline skaters)

• Kangaroos (parents with strollers)

• Wolf Packs (runners or walkers with their pets) and

• Sloths (those who cannot or will not be running, skating, walking or moving, in general, on April 22nd, but would like to support and help protect their fellow species!).  

The race begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in beautiful Lincoln Park near Diversey Harbor and across from the Peggy Notebeart Nature Center on North Cannon Drive.  The Bear Cub Kids Fun Run will begin at approximately 10:45 AM. The entry fee is $30.00 ($15 for Bear Cubs) and proceeds will be donated to our exclusive charitable beneficiary World Wildlife Fund. Race entry includes a VERY cool shirt and the opportunity to help WWF reach their conservation. Come join us and make a positive impact for Earth Day!

Race Day Packet pickup begins at 8:30 AM, on race day, near 2430 N. Cannon Road, Chicago, IL.

The Race Against Extinction is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to generate greater awareness of the need to protect our planet's endangered plants and animals, raise money for the habitat preservation funds of established international conservation groups, and - perhaps most importantly - have FUN!

We encourage all types of athletes and non-athletes to participate. If you have never run a timed race before, here is your chance. If you think that you are fast you have a great chance to win one of our coveted 'lost, found and recycled' Hub Cap trophies, by placing first in one of our many categories.
