Mission Trails Regional Park is a beautiful park, with amazing trails, rugged hills, valleys and meadows and represents a San Diego prior to the landing of Cabrillo in San Diego Bay in 1542. Its also the setting for the first children for children 5k.

What is this event?

Hi, I'm your race director, Natasha Preece. I'm 13 years old and I just want to make a difference. 

Children for children 5k is a project that I started two years ago, when I realized that not all kids are as privileged and they don't have as many opportunities as many of us do to practice sports. So, the idea came to do a fun 5k, where children could help another children.

All the proceeds of this race will go to helping children play sports, have fun and learn more about themselves. So come out, enjoy one of San Diego’s most beautiful parks and help other kids to get active in sports.

Event details and schedule

Pick up packages: 7:00 am - 7:45 am

Race starts: 8:00 am

Parking: Will be at the Mission Gorge Trails, NOT at the Visitor Center.

VIP: Participants who register as VIP runners will get access to our Special VIP Porta-Potties. Why wait in line when you can have access to specially treated red carpet facilities and get more kids into sports with your donation.

Directions / Parking

The event is at MISSION GORGE TRAILS REGIONAL PARK, just 20 minutes from downtown San Diego, just north of the intersection of the 52 and Mast Blvd. The start and finish are located at the EQUESTRIAN LOT, NOT the Visitors Center. The Equestrian Lot is located on Mast Blvd and the 52 Fwy.

The main parking lot holds 200 vehicles (DO NOT PARK in the NO PARK areas). There are also additional surface lots and street parking. 

From 52 Fwy East/South: Exit Mast Road and turn right and follow the signs to the Equestrian Area (starting line).

From 52 Fwy North/West: Exit Mast Road and turn left under the freeway and follow the signs to the Equestrian Area (starting line).

From the 8 (East or West): Take the 125 North which turns into the 52 West and exit Mast Road. Turn left under the freeway and follow the signs to the Equestrian Area (starting line).

RULES

- Participants must follow and stay on the course.

- No participants going backwards, animals, bicycles, strollers, roller skates, scooters, skateboards or pets are allowed.

- Participants agree to follow the instructions of the race.

- No headphones are allowed.

ALL participants will receive a very cool medal.
