Description
  • The 16th Annual Lewis and Clark 10K/5K Race/Walk, and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008, in Chamberlain, South Dakota.
  • The 5K (walk/run) and 10K will begin at 8:30 AM, the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk at 9:30 AM, and the kids race around 9:45 AM.
  • All events will start from Barger Park at the north end of River Street (2 blocks west of Main Street - road will be barricaded). Awards ceremony begins at 10:00 A.M. at the finish line.
  • Competitive and non-competitive runners and walkers of all ages are all welcome!
    • Course Info
    Due to anticipated Bridge Construction, the course has changed for this years race.
  • From Barger Park, the 1 mile Fun run/walk will go south along scenic River Street then turn around and return along the same course.
  • The 5K and 10K races will also go south along River Street. Toward the south end of town, the course will cut over to South Main and continue south past the historic South Dakota Hall of Fame.
  • Near the Interstate Bridge underpass, runners will make their turn around and continue back on the same course to the finish.
  • 10 K runners will complete a second loop of that same course to complete their 10 K distance. Water/Gatorade stations will be at the 1 mile turnaround and the 5K turnarounds.

  • Awards will be given for male and female overall winners in the 5K and 10K races; AND for the top 3 male and female age group winners for each race in these age categories: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+.
  • The overall male and female winners of each race will receive one free night of lodging (for up to 4 persons) in one of our beautiful local hotels, as well as a trophy.
  • A $50 award will be given to any race winner who sets a course record (5K: male 14:57, female 18:30; 10K: male 32:13, female 39:19).
  • All 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk participants will receive a prize, as will all kids race participants.
  • All registered runners will be eligible for our many door prizes!
