Sri Chinmoy 5K & 10K - Alley Pond Park

Join us on Sunday, September 24, for the Inaugural Sri Chinmoy 5K & 10K in Alley Pond Park, featuring a scenic 5K loop course through the park. Simultaneous 10AM start for both 5K & 10K.  USATF certified course and sanctioned event.

Sponsored by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in cooperation with the New York City Dept. of Parks and Recreation.

AMENITIES:

Bag check, aid stations every mile, free T-shirt (guaranteed if registered by September 8), medals for all finishers, and our famous post-race pancake breakfast!

POST-RACE PANCAKE BREAKFAST!

Hot pancakes are even more enjoyable after you’ve run a race, and we’re cooking them up fresh for everyone on race day! (yes, of course they're free!)

KIDS RACE:

There will be a kids race for children under 13, at 9:45 a.m. 100 meter and 400 meter distances - depending on the child’s age. Registration - $5 - is on race day only, starting at 9:00 a.m. Each child will receive a small prize.

TIME LIMITS:

Participants in either race have until 11:30 AM (1-1/2 hours) to finish.

AGE RESTRICTIONS:

5K: 13 years or older
10K: 15 years or older

REGISTRATION AND FEES:

We strongly recommend pre-registering for this event, race-day registration may not be available.

Register Online through RedPodium or Active (Processing fee applies).
Register by mail: Entry must be postmarked NO LATER than Friday, September 8 to be accepted.

Early registration: 5K: $20, 10K: $30 through Friday, September 8 (online or by mail)
Late registration:  5K: $25, 10K: $35 through Friday, September 22, 5:00 PM (online only)
Race-day registration, IF AVAILABLE:  8:45 - 9:30 AM on race-day.  Cash, check, money order ONLY. (Sorry, no credit cards).  5K: $35, 10K: $45.  Please check our race webpage on September 22 to see if race-day registration will be offered.

Entries cannot be transferred to another person.

RACE NUMBER PICKUP:

Number pickup will be on race day only, between 8:45 - 9:45 AM

RESULTS:
Will be posted on our race webpage within 24 hours.

ABOUT US:
From race directors to course monitors, all Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team races are staffed by its own volunteers since the Team’s inauguration in 1977 by its founder and fitness advocate, Sri Chinmoy.

Today, the SCMT organizes over 500 races a year in 20 countries across 5 continents, ranging from short kids fun-runs, to marathons to the world’s longest certified road race – the annual Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race (yes, 3,100 miles, it’s not a typo).  We love running and putting on races – we hope you enjoy the friendly atmosphere we provide, free of commercial sponsors.

A scenic 5K loop through the Alley Pond Park and a section on the Vanderbilt Parkway.  Course has some low hills.
