Description

This 5K walk/run and 10K run is hosted by numerous volunteers and is supported by the Lava Beds National Monument and The Modoc National Forest to raise money for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation in memory of Shawn Price, Thomas Marovich Jr., Luke Sheehy, David Ruhl, and all other firefighters who have lost their lives or who have been seriously injured in the line of duty. The walk/run is also followed by a hosted BBQ lunch and raffle. All proceeds go directly to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation to support their mission.

The Wildland Firefighter Foundation's main focus is to help families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and to assist injured firefighters and their families. They honor and acknowledge past, present, and future members of the wildland firefighting community, and partner with private and interagency organizations to bring recognition to wildland firefighters.

Shawn Price was the Engine Captain for Engine 74 at the Lava Beds National Monument in Tulelake, California. He passed after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Thomas Marovich Jr was a Wildland Firefigher Apprentice who worked on the Big Valley Ranger District in Adin, California. He was taken from us during a rappel accident on the Backbone Fire in the Summer of 2009.

Luke Sheehy was a Redding Smokejumper who died June 10th, 2013 as a result of injuries received on a wildfire on the Modoc National Forest.

David Ruhl, a firefighter from the Black Hills National Forest, was on temporary assignment to the Modoc National Forest when he was killed battling the Frog Fire near Longbell.
