Course Info
5k Course Description:
The 5k course is a trail run consisting of gravel paths, dirt trails, with a few sections of paved roads and sidewalks. The course climbs 180ft, primarily gained over one .5 mile section with the remainder being downhill or relatively flat.
Course Instructions:
The course starts on wide gravel roads and paths for the first .3 mile leading to a trail system behind Cedar Lodge’s ampitheatre, where you can peek out and see Port Susan Bay. The next section is a single-wide dirt path that connects up with the Beach Trail at .75 mile. You will drop 125ft down to sea level following the dirt and gravel trail. You will continue straight, running past the Dike Trail and Waste Water Treatment Center. You will run through a gate and towards the Horse Stables. You will be just shy of 1.5 miles and head past the stables and up the gravel road to Bayview where you will hang right onto the Summer Trail, a section of which is along the edge of a natural ravine. Over the course of the next .5 mile you will gain 130ft. This section of the trails includes a staircase on the edge of a natural ravine and trails that have exposed roots, so be sure to watch your step. At the top of the stairs along the ravine you will be back on a wide dirt path. Take a left onto the Challenge Course Trail, a single-wide path which weaves through beautiful native growth as well as some of WBC’s Challenge Course. At around 1.8 miles, you will stay left to continue on the Summer Trail which will take you to the entrance of Camp. Hang a right and run to the 4-way stop, cross to the left to enter the RV Loop where you take a second left and follow the gravel road to the Chinook Trail. You will follow the trail through the woods between the Warm Beach Camp Senior Center and Chinook Village. You will exit the woods by the Pool and take a right onto the sideway. Run on the sidewalk past on the Maple Center, Cedar Lodge and the Baker Cabins. Just shy of 3 miles, you will take a right and follow the gravel road back to the finish line!
