The Event
Now in its 6th year, The St. Michaels Running Festival is a premier athletic event for participants of all ages and athletic abilities. Located in the charming, historic town of St. Michaels, Maryland, our USATF certified Half Marathon, and 5k wind along beautiful waterfront vistas and stunning country lanes. In addition to the running events, participants will enjoy live music, good food and two days of festivities. This is a great annual tradition where friends, families and running groups come together to celebrate personal achievement, good health and NO HILLS ON THE COURSES!
KIDS RUN
This year also includes a 1k Kids Fun Run for children ages 12 and younger. All children will receive a very cool shirt, race bib and finish line food/drink! This is a great way for kids to be a part of the event and start learning about their own physical fitness. The run benefits the Chesapeake Sports Alliance, a non-profit organization supporting kids’ wellness.
Expo Information
The 2017 St. Michaels Running Festival includes a pre-race expo on May 19 as well as a post-race celebration at our Runner's Village on May 20, located just behind the St. Michaels Brewery. All registered participants 21+ yrs. old will receive a coupon for 1 complimentary adult beverage, which can be redeemed at the Runner's Village on race day. The expo will also feature live music and great giveaways.
Parking – THERE IS A PLAN
Parking is one of the biggest logistical hurdles SMRF has to plan around. St. Michaels has one road in and one road out – presenting the need for a fairly comprehensive race day parking plan. We ask all runners to PLAN AHEAD AND ARRIVE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!
Thanks to the St. Michaels PD and many volunteers, you will be gently ushered to a parking area. We ask that you please follow the instructions of our designated parking experts because they are tasked with getting you parked in a timely fashion and ensuring that all traffic moves through our town smoothly.
There is ample parking in St. Michaels, the surrounding communities and at the school campus to park all of our runners. Regardless of where our parking crew directs you, you will be able to walk to the start line (or jog for a warm up) within a few minutes.
Live Updates From The Course
Would you like your friends and family to follow you on race day? Want to let them know when you cross the start line and what your time was at the finish line? Runners can sign up for instant updates via email and Facebook!
Runner Goodies
All runners will be treated to the same awesome finish line food - granola bars, sliced oranges, bananas, PBJs, water and sports drink!
Gun Time and Chip Time Rankings
SMRF uses both gun time and chip time for scoring. Gun time will be used to determine overall winners – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall will be based on gun time. Age group winners will be determined using chip time. So no matter where you line up at the start of the race, your chip time will determine where you place in your age group.
Water Stations
There will be an abundance of water stations available on race day. There will be a minimum of 7 stations on the half marathon, and 1 on the 5K. The water stations will have both water and a sports drink. The water will be available at the first table as you approach and the sports drink will be available at the second table. The volunteers will also remind you of the water and sports drink locations as you approach.
