Run to the Rescue 5k...

• 5K Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

This exciting event will be held May 20, 2017 at 8 A.M. at the American Legion Post 20, located at 806 Calhoun Avenue in Greenwood, SC. It is a 3.1 mile race that will follow the Cambridge Gateway trail, loop through Kimbrook subdivision, and proceed back to the American Legion via the Cambridge Gateway trail.

As you may be aware, the Humane Society of Greenwood is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit animal welfare agency comprised of staff and volunteers. The HSOG is not funded by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), ASPCA, or any other national animal welfare agency. The HSOG is supported by donations and funding from Greenwood County to manage the Greenwood County Animal Shelter. While the County Animal Shelter is primarily funded by Greenwood County, the HSOG contributes close to $70K annually of their funds to help operate the shelter.

The funds provided by this event will be used to cover the cost of medications, food, and minor maintenance repairs at the shelter, as well as to support the mission of HSOG, which addresses how to reduce the number of animals entering the shelter system via aggressive spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Return programs, including subsidizing the cost of spay/neuter for low-income families, marketing of adoptions, education, and animal advocacy.

Please arrive on time as the course begins at the entrance of the American Legion. Race day registration will begin at 7 a.m. Parking available in the American Legion parking lot, behind the American Legion building, and across the street by the city garden.

While we love animals, for the safety of others, we ask that you leave them off the course. Thank you for your understanding.
