Stafford's Top of Michigan Community Marathon- A USATF CERTIFIED COURSE  to benefit the Top of Michigan Trails Council and the Petoskey High School Cross Country and Track teams.  

 In addition, there is a 10k race/walk and half marathon and team marathon.

The marathon race will be run on a beautiful course made of asphalt starting in Charlevoix, then Petoskey and finishing in Harbor Springs. The trail is an excellent venue for runners stepping up to a marathon or seasoned runners looking for a fast time. The trail is relatively flat and perfect for getting a qualifying time for other races. The trail has spectacular views of the Little Traverse Bay.  

The team marathon consists of up to 13 runners.  There are two categories - Open and female. Open can be mixed male and female.  You are required to exchange at an aid station and you can split distances between your runners as you see fit.  To register for the team marathon go to: http://www.trailscouncil.org/community-marathon/

The half marathon is on the same course and begins in Bay Harbor and finishes in Harbor Springs.

The 10K starts at the Top of Michigan Trails Council's Packy Offield Trails Center and also finishes in Harbor Spring.

Event details and schedule

Marathon course is a beautiful point to point asphalt trail, starting in Charlevoix and finishing in Harbor Springs.

A shuttle will be available in the morning from Harbor Springs to Charlevoix for the marathon and from Harbor Springs to Petoskey and Bay Harbor for the 10K and Half Marathon. A shuttle will also be available from Harbor Springs to Petoskey, Bay Harbor and Charlevoix in the afternoon.

Parking in dowtown Charlevoix is available.

Marathon and team marathon starts at 7:30 am

Half starts at 8:00 am

10K starts at 8:30 am

Packet pickup for the marathon will happen in the park near Bridge St. Tap Room in Charlevoix from 3-8 pm on May 26, or one hour before the marathon begins at the same location. Packet pickup for the Half Marathon and the 10K will be at Top of MI Trails Council, 1687 M 119, Petoskey, from 9 am - 5 pm on May 26 or from 7:30 - 8:30 am on May 27.   Race day packet pick-up for the Half Marathon will be in Bay Harbor by the starting line fron 6:30 - 7:30 am

Weather is variable in late May so be prepared for anything. In case of extreme weather the event may be delayed or cancelled to protect the safety of participants and no refunds will be given if the event is cancelled.

Course closure for the marathon is 6 hours or at 1:00 p.m.
