5K for Parkinson's...

The second annual 5K for Parkinson's, hosted by the Adirondack Parkinson's Foundation, will take place on Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at the historic Knox Field in Johnstown, New York. The Foundation's first event, "Walk Off Parkinson's", held in April 2016, was a tremendous success, raising more than $4,000 for Parkinson's Disease research, advocacy, and education, and this year's event hopes to be an even greater success. All proceeds from the 2017 5K for Parkinson's will be donated directly to the Albany Medical Center's Department of Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Research. 

The 2017 5K for Parkinson's is open to walkers and runners of any and all skill levels. Runners will be competitively timed, unless they request not to be, by our professional race timing network, and prizes will be offered for the first five runners to complete the race. Walkers will not be competitively timed, but our race timing network will also be at their service upon request. 

The registration fee includes an event t-shirt (for those who register before 5/7), a morning snack, a runner/walker number bib with pins, and a participant packet including information on Parkinson's Disease and goodies from community partners.

Event details and schedule

Event check-in and registration will begin at 11:30 am and the 5K race will begin promptly at 1:00 pm. Registration and information tables will be located at the main entrance for Knox Field, on South Perry Street in Johnstown, directly behind the field's main entrance pillars. Ample free street parking is available the day of the event on South Perry Street and adjacent avenues. 

It is asked that pre-registered participants come to the registration/check-in table ready with the registration ID/confirmation number provided to them by Active Network. However, if this number is not readily available, event staff will be able to look up participant information if necessary.

Participants are encouraged to bring themselves a water bottle and to wear proper running/walking gear based on the weather the day of the event. Water bottles will be available for purchase at the event, and water stations will also be available for participants to refill their bottles. Snacks and food items will also be available for purchase at the event.
