Description

Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals 5K/10K and 1/2-Mile Zippity Zoo events are hosted by the Cosley Foundation to raise funds for the animals at Cosley Zoo as well as exhibit development projects, public programs, and conservation projects. Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals is one of the suburbs largest 5K/10K running events. The 5K/10K events are CARA certified and the course is USATF certified.


Online registration closes on May 29 at 11:59pm.  Packet pick-up will be held on Wednesday and Thursday May 31 and June 2 from 8A-8P.

The first 2,500 participants receive a long-sleeve tech t-shirt as part of their run registration fees. All participants are also welcome to join us at the Post Race Party for music, awards, and refreshments. Walking is permitted. 

For participant’s safety, NO bicycles, in-line skates, strollers, other-wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs or other accessibility devices). Animals are also NOT permitted on the race course or in Memorial Park (except for service animals). All registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Registration is only available online through active.com.

5K/10K Start Time: 7:30am

Zippity Zoo Start Time: 8:45am

Starting Line: On Main Street just south of Seminary Avenue (east of Memorial Park)

5K & Zippity Zoo Finish Line: Seminary just west of Main Street 

10K Finish Line: Wheaton Avenue just north of Union Avenue

Race Day Registration, Gear Check, Post Race Party, Paws for Breakfast & Washrooms Located At: Memorial Park (208 W. Union, Wheaton, IL)

Parking: Participants are encouraged to use the parking garage located between N. Wheaton Avenue and N. Hale Street. Street parking is limited. Limited handicap accessible parking is available in the parking lot of Gary United Methodist Church. Please enter this lot from Wesley Street. 

First Aid: Minor first aid is available in Memorial Park at the First Aid Booth near the park entrance on Karlscoga Avenue and Hale Street. For serious incidents, dial 911. 

Course Details: Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals is a USATF certified course. The course winds through the streets of downtown Wheaton. The 10K will include Northside Park as part of the route. A course map will be available soon at www.cosleyzoo.org.

Walk-in Registration: Walk-in registration will only be accepted during Packet Pick-up at Wheaton Park District Community Center and on the morning of the race in Memorial Park (near the concessions stand). Cash, Check, Visa, Discover, and MasterCard will be accepted for payment.

Awards: Overall Winners and Age Division Awards for the 5K/10K events will be handed out during the Post Race Party. All Zippity Zoo participants will receive an award at the finish line.
