Transforming Youth, Inc. (TYI) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit that operates in College Park, GA. TYI mission is to Expose, Educate, and Encourage youth to achieve excellence in their personal and professional development. TYI achieves its mission by teaching life skills to youth between the ages of 12 - 18 years old. Some skills that are taught are biblical principles, being proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win win, seek first to understand and then be understood, synergize, sharpen the saw, conflict resolution, implementing S.M.A.R.T. Goals and how to act on a vision.

This Transforming Youth, Inc. 5K Run\Walk is a fundraising activity that teaches the youth how to apply the life skills they are learning in a classroom environment. The youth in the program are working in groups to plan and implement this 5K Run\Walk that further reinforce how to work in groups, deal with conflict resolution and how to deal with rejection while marketing their 5K Run\Walk.

Why should you participate in Transforming Youth, Inc. 5K Run\Walk? TYI is a grass root organization that thrives on teaching youth life skills that will aid them in their personal and professional development for years to come. There are currently 14 schools in Fulton County that are on the failing list. Nine of the fourteen schools are located in South Fulton. When the schools fail our community fails. As a result, TYI is a conduit that aids in fostering relationships with schools Parent Liaisons within South Fulton by teaching life skills in a classroom environment and by applying those life skills to activities such as this 5K Run/Walk.

What will the fundraising dollars be used for? TYI youth vision is to raise money via crowdfunding and peer to peer fundraising efforts to start their own T-Shirt Business. The youth will own 100% of the business and they will be guided on how to write a business plan, obtain capital, marketing, sales, insurance, accounting principles and receive income while in school. Initially they will buy the T-Shirts wholesale, create their own design and have a third party vendor print the t-shirts. In addition, the youth will have an E-Commence website in which customers can order their shirts online that will go directly to our printing vendor, who will then drop ship the product directly to the customers. This will teach the youth how to become entrepreneurs and how to put the work in from the beginning that creates positive cash flow over and over. They will be making money while in school, while the website is doing all the work. As a result, the youth will have several by-products form this business venture. A by-product is when you have an initial product where there are opportunities to capitalize on ideas surrounding the initial product. In this example, the youth will have a successful T-Shirt business and their by-products can be activities such as hosting workshops that will teach other youth how to own and operate their t-shirt business, write e-books, host a fashion show, become a YouTube sensationalist. The sky is the limit for these youth attending Transforming Youth, Inc Curriculum.
