Hayden's Heroes, Inc. was created to raise awareness for a rare disease, Histiocytosis, by raising funds to be donated to research, helping families who suffer from Histiocytosis and providing education about the disease.
Histiocytic disorders are a related group of diseases caused by over-production of white blood cells known as histiocytes, which can lead to organ damage and tumor formation. This group is made up of a wide variety of conditions that can affect both children and adults. In fact, the disease is so rare it is often referred to as an "orphan disease."
Hayden's Heroes, Inc. was inspired by Hayden Boerum, a 7 year old from Frederick, MD. He was diagnosed at age three and has had several procedures, numerous blood transfusions and chemotherapy. In November 2012, Hayden underwent a double umbilical cord transplant. Over the next 2+ years Hayden battled Graph VS Host disease, many infections and underwent multiple treatments to fight for his life. On March 29, 2015, Hayden gained his Angel Wings. Hayden's Heroes will continue their mission to find a cure for Histiocytosis and help families suffering have a little hope and happiness while they make their way through their journey with Histiocytosis.
We thank you for your support!
Don't forget to LEARN about Histios, SHARE with others and HOPE for a cure.
