Everybody knows someone with a drug or alcohol problem. The mission of this event will be to raise funds for Choices Recovery Center, a program of ARCH. ARCH is a non-profit organization that focuses on serving the Roanoke Valley’s most vulnerable citizens. ARCH offers multiple programs to support recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction as well as ending homelessness.
The proceeds from this race and memory walk will help the Choices Recovery Center address the national epidemic of addition that is manifesting itself right here, right now in our community. Choices is a peer to peer support program and it is free of charge.
The race will take place on June the 24th 2017 at Washington Park. The race will kick off at 8:00 am and we will run the Lick Way Greenway to the Target turn around, returning to Washington Park. Estimated time to finish the race is one hour. Awards and prizes will be given out after the race! There will be a Mile Memory Walk. This walk is to remember and celebrate loved ones lost as a result of addiction, celebrate their lives and cherish their memories. Picture posters may be carried. Registration for the walk is available at active.com. The walk will start immediately after the runners leave the starting line. There will be red flags available to write the name of loved ones lost on, as well as a memorial garden to place the flag in after the walk.
Please help us raise awareness and funding to fight this tragic disease!
