The 3rd Annual Goody Goody Turkey Gobble, Tampa’s Thanksgiving Day 5K is offering an 8K (5 mile) race in 2017!

Both the 5K & 8K races are chip timed, start at 7 am and take runners on an out and back course across the Platt Street bridge and along the beautiful and scenic Bayshore Blvd.

Starting from humble beginnings 10+ years ago, when a group of joggers met at the Downtown YMCA to run before starting their Thanksgiving Day festivities, this once small gathering has turned into a cherished Tampa tradition. In 2017, the 3rd Annual Goody Goody Turkey Gobble will again transcend generations of participants as they gather to celebrate the holiday with families, friends and co-workers while furthering the cause of the Tampa YMCA to strengthen the foundations of community through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.  100% of the proceeds raised from the 5K will support the Tampa YMCA’s LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA cancer wellness programs. The free 12-week program offers people affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.

What is the race day timeline?
5:30 am Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-Up Opens on the plaza at Amalie Arena
7:00 am 5k & 8K Races Begins (participants pushing baby joggers/strollers or with pets will line up in designated corrals)
7:10 am 1 Mile Walk Begins
7:50 am Announcements and Awards

What is the price of the race and is it timed?
5K: $25 thru 5/31/17; $30 6/1/17 – 9/30/17; $35 10/1/17 – 11/22/17; $45: race day 11/23/17—chip timed race
8K: $30 thru 5/31/17; $35 6/1/17 – 9/30/17; $40 10/1/17 – 11/22/17; $50: race day 11/23/17—chip timed race
1-mile walk/run - $15 until midnight Wed., 11/22/17; $20 on race day, 11/23/17 – non-chip timed run/walk

What Is included in the participant registration price?
Chip timed numbered bib (8K & 5K); non-chip timed numbered bib (1 mile)
Dri-fit unisex sized t-shirt—8K & 5K only--guaranteed t-shirt deadline 11/10/17
Finisher medal for ALL participants: 8K, 5K & 1 Mile!
Post-race Goody Goody breakfast (participants must wear race bib)

NOTE: The option to choose a shirt size (8K & 5K participants) will NOT be available after 11/10/17. If shirts are available after the race, they will be distributed in the t-shirt area, however shirts and sizes are not guaranteed after 11/10/17!

Are there Awards for the 8K & 5K?
Awards presented to Overall 1st place M/F and to Overall 1st place M/F youth (ages 9 & under)
1st place only M/F awards in the following age groups: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

When and Where is Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up?
11 am – 7 pm, Tues., Nov. 21std at Ferg’s Live, 490 Channelside Drive (across from Amalie Arena)
5 pm– 7 pm will feature our pre-race party!

Where do I park on race day, Thurs., Nov. 23, 2017?
Parking is available in the Amalie parking lots and City of Tampa parking garages for $5 per vehicle

Is gear check available race morning?
There is NO gear check/hold on race morning, please plan accordingly if waiting to pick up race day!
Picking up your race materials on Tues., Nov. 21st from 11 am to 7 pm at Ferg’s Live is strongly encouraged!

Are strollers, rollerblades, scooters, bicycles or other wheeled transportation allowed at the race?
Strollers are allowed. For safety reasons, participants pushing a stroller/baby jogger will line up in a designated start corral. NOT permitted on the course are other wheeled transportation, including but not limited to scooters, rollerblades, rolling shoes and bicycles.

Are dogs allowed at the race?
Yes, for safety reasons, dogs must be on a non-retractable leash not to exceed 6’. Owners must clean up after them and will line up in a designated start corral.

Do you need volunteers and how can they sign up?
YES, we always need volunteers! Sign up shifts and times are on the race registration site at RunSignUp.

Where can I find 5K & 8K race results?
On-site results will be available following the race and a link to results will be emailed to all finishers post-race
