_ 2017 Freedom 5K & 10K Run:
The 16th Annual Freedom Run/Walk is the only fitness race held on July 4th on Oahu. The 5K & 10K run will be professionally timed by Timeline Hawaii. Wheelchairs, strollers, and pets (on leash) are welcomed! The course begins and ends at Kailua High School with an awards ceremony held immediately after the race. Make it a day in Kailua! Start the day off at Kailua High School at the Freedom Run/Walk and then head into Kailua town for the July 4th Parade. Spend the afternoon at Kailua Beach Park soaking up the sun before the evening's main event, the Kailua Fireworks.
Event details and schedule
Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological condition after migraines, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. Epilepsy is more prevalent than autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy combined. With your support, we can continue to raise awareness of epilepsy and advocate for the individuals living with epilepsy and their families across Hawaii. The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii (EFH) hosts the annual Freedom Run to support care, advocacy and community epilepsy education and awareness in the Hawaiian Islands. This is a family oriented event to raise awareness about epilepsy and funds to support our mission to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy. The Freedom Run got its name because it inspires individuals living with epilepsy to be free from seizures and celebrate that freedom at the race. It is the only fitness race offered in Honolulu on July 4th and we expect this year’s race to be our biggest race to date!
Come out and support the 15,000 individuals living with epilepsy in Hawaii!
