SAME DAY REGISTRATION AVAILABLE!
A local tradition since 1982, the Run-Walk for Peace is an event of the Atlantic Northeast District Church of the Brethren Recreation Commission that supports local and global efforts to promote peace.
This family-friendly event invites participation by peacemakers of all ages. In addition to the race, younger participants can complete the Kids' Fun Run. We will also make Equal Exchange fair trade products available for purchase, along with sneaker recycling and baked-good door prizes. Age-group winners will receive fair-trade awards.
The race starts and finishes at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren (777 South Mount Joy Street). Parking will be available in the church lot, as well as on-street parking on Cedar and Mount Joy Streets. This course has been measured with a calibrated wheel, with chip timing by Integrity Sports (www.PArunners.com).
This year’s race benefits New Community Project (NCP), a non-profit organization dedicated to “Building a new community of justice and peace for our neighbors and respect for the earth.” Proceeds will be divided between NCP’s “Give a Girl a Chance” (peace through justice) program; “If a Tree Falls” program (peace through reforestation, helping ensure a stable environment which mitigates fighting over scarcity) and NCP’s core programs.
