About Kelci and the Event:

Kelci, who passed away on July 24, 2012 following a car accident, was a free spirit who loved art, music, nature and having a good time, and doing good in her memory is the best way we can think to honor her beautiful spirit. Family and friends of Kelci Gibbons established this run/walk to benefit The Kelci Ever After Memorial Fund (administered by the Luzerne Foundation) for this purpose. Proceeds from the run benefit the fund which makes annual donations to local youth sports, art and environmental non-profits.
We have received incredible community support for our annual fund raising event, and we have been able to do an tremendous amount of good in Kelci's name.

In the past four years over $20,000 has been donated to various organizations including Dallas & Lehman High School student scholarships, King's College scholarships for Dress for Success, study abroad and service learning, the Arbor Day Foundation for Peace Trees for Kelci, donations to Frances Slocum State Park (trees, a camera and other equipment for the environmental program), Back Mountain Youth Soccer, The Boys and Girls Club of NEPA, Dallas Middle School Courtyard Nature Project, and College Misericordia Social Work Department, Dinners for Kids.
The annual event is usually held the first Sunday in October.?

THE RUN:

Why a 6K and not a 5K? It's a 6K for Kelci. Kelci wore #6 on her jersey when she played soccer for Dallas High School (and as a member of the 2005 PIAA State Championship Team) and K, obviously is for kilometers, but for Kelci as well. We also like to be different. The 2K is a nod to her twinship.
Learn more about Kelci here.

The 6K Run starts at the boat launch near Pavilion #3, follows the road towards the boat rental area at other side of lake. You will leave the road taking a mostly paved path to the right, turn left towards the lake and run through the grass along the shoreline to towards the boat rental shed then loop towards the start. At the starting boat launch the run continues along the shore line to the beautiful Lake Shore Trail to the Campground Road, looping back at the Campground boat launch then back to the finish at the Pavilion.

The 2K Walk is the first part of the 6K, starting and ending near Pavillion #3.
