The Cade Foundation's Maryland Race for the Family, hosted by Shady Grove Fertility Center, is our 5k run/walk that celebrates the strength and courage it takes to OVERCOME infertility. All proceeds from the event fund Family Building Grants that help others afford the costs associated with fertility treatment or adoption.

 FREE access to the zoo following the race

 Join us for fun- family and OVERCOMING at the MD Zoo on Saturday June 10, 2017!  We will host a 5k foot race, a 5k walk, a 1 mile Family Fun Walk and Savannah’s Playground- a playground with child entertainers, face painting, the “Toddler trot” and lots of other fun activities for kiddos. All adult registrants will receive a tech tee, a race medal and a virtual swag bag.  We also always have a special competition between the doctors and staff at Shady Grove Fertility. All proceeds benefit the Cade Foundation’s Family Building Grants which provide grant funding supporting adoption and fertility treatment for needy families with infertility. Registration includes a raffle entry for $10k in fertility services at Shady Grove Fertility as well as complimentary entry to the MD Zoo on 6/10/17.

Please note: Discounted zoo admission tickets for friends, family, and spectators that are not participating in the race are available for purchase as an add-on option after the purchase of one regular race admission. A wristband will be required to enter the zoo for the race and also to re-enter post-race. Wristbands will be distributed at packet pickup or on race day at the registration tent.  

Cancellation Policy: This event will take place rain or shine. The Tinina Q Cade Foundation, Inc. does not offer refunds, rollovers, credits or transfers at anytime. All registrations are final. Participants who register after May 25, 2017 are not garunteed to receive a t-shirt.

Event Schedule:

Arrival and Check In: 7am-7:30am

Race Start Time:      8:05am

Awards Celebration:  9am

Finish Line Party:     8:30am-10am

Savannah's Playground (for children 0-10): 8:30am-10am

What to Bring:  Yourself!  We have all of the registration info and your waiver on file.

Arrival Info:  Please plan to arrive between 7am and 7:30am to allow time for parking, checking in (if you haven't gotten your bib at packet pickup) etc.

What to wear: Comfortable running or walking clothes.

Parking Info:  You will park in front of the entry gate to the Maryland Zoo. Follow the arrows to the main parking lot.

Race Course:

START – is located inside Eagle Gate (near Main Zoo entrance), in line with

the end of the metal black fence on the LEFT.

1 Mile - is located on road after leaving zoo near the Penguin Gate.

2 Mile - is located on the lake loop, just before the tower (octagon shape

with 3 circle windows in a triangle shapes on its’ sides) at the Jones Falls (I-

83) side of the lake.

FINISH - is located at the Water Fowl Gate 7 on the wood chip trail.

Start where described above and down through Plaza Pathway, turn LEFT

and go through train station, out Gate Number 27, turn RIGHT and re-enter

Zoo grounds through Construction Gate Number 25, straight down and

through Gate behind Antelope barn, LEFT at fence line and out through

Antelope Gate. Turn LEFT onto the road and continue until crossing

East/Swan Drives onto a path leading to the lake drive (this is near the

Columbus Statue). Turn left on the lake loop and continue around the lake

clockwise until returning to the same path the runners came down after

crossing intersection of Swan Dr/East Dr. Follow the path, cross the road

here and bare to the left and continue up the hill. Turn left into the Water

Fowl Gate 7.
