The Covenant "5K for Literacy" takes place in the scenic Snyder Park in Springfield, Ohio. It is the second 5K for Literacy, and supports the Children's Defense Fund Freedom School at Covenant United Methodist Church. The "5K for Literacy" enables children in grades 1 through 6 to maintain reading and other academic skills often lost over the summer break. In addition, children who parricipate in the CDF Freedom School engage in STEM learning activities. The course is one loop around a portion of the park from start to finish.
Runners/walkers can sign-in and pick up packets at 8:00 a.m. at the large shelter near the Bechtle Avenue entrance, and the event begins at 9:00 a.m. Parking is available along the route until 8:30 a.m. after which parking is available in the playground area.
