Race on mostly single lane dirt trail. Procedes support the Chris Lopez Classic Scholarship and are also donated to the Yreka High School Cross Country Team. The race is in memory of Christopher Lopez who passed away following a Cross Country Race in Anderson, CA in 2009. The one mile walk starts at 8:30am and is $15 (kids 5- under are free). The 5K is $20 and starts at 9am. The 10K is $30 and starts at 9. Race day registration starts at 7:30am. Pre registration is on line at www.chrislopezclassic.org . To guarantee a shirt, register prior to June 1st. Shirts are not guaranteed after June 1.
All races start and finish on the grass. The one mile is stroller friendly and is on a paved path. The 5K is partially on the paved trail for 3/4 of a mile then goes to single track dirt trail. The 10K is also mostly single track dirt trail with an over 600 foot elevation gain. There may be several shallow water crossing in the last 1 mile of the 5K/10K courses, depending on weather.
Take Greenhorn Road from Main Street Yreka. 3/4 mile on Greenhorn Road and Upper Greenhorn is on the left hand side of the road.
