This has been a devastating year for those who have battled addiction and for family members who have struggled with a loved ones addiction. On average right now in our communities, United States of America, 144 people lose their lives daily due to opiate-based addictions and overdoses.

Team addict to athlete has suffered several accounts of this epidemic on our team. In October 2016 Athlete Brandon Black, a kind, warmhearted athlete lost his battle and was forced to take a knee due to this overpowering opiate addiction. As a result to bring awareness, show support for his family and to bring awareness to our communities that this is a real epidemic, team Addict II Athlete will carry the message of awareness, recovery and compassion to his community, his hometown of Salem Utah.

This free 5K will serve as a proxy runner event. A proxy runner is a loved one who uses their legs in honor of a loved one who has lost the battle to addiction or as a sign of love for a family member or loved one who is still battling addiction.
