The Samish Tobacco-Free 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk is a tribal and community event promoting healthy tobacco-free lifestyle choices that will reduce the risk of developing cancer-related health problems and diseases from smoking. Preventing tobacco use and helping those who use tobacco can improve the healthy and quality of life for Native Americans and all people of all ages. The 2017 Samish Tobacco-Free 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Northwest Tribal Cancer Control Project, and the Samish Indian Nation.
Registration: Day of Event Only. Bib # pick up 8:30 am to race time. 5k Race starts at 10:00 am. 1 Mile Walk starts at 10:15 am. The Fun Run and Walk will take place on the Tommy Thompson Trail, starting at the Fidalgo Bay Resort. The 5k Run is an out and back route and will head west. The 1 Mile Walk is an out and back route and will head east. The top three male and top 3 female finishers in the 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk will receive winners ribbons and Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Medals. This is a free event. No entry fees. Free parking. All participants receive a t-shirt, water bottle, pedometer, and outreach materiasl on Tobacco Prevention.
