Description

Presented by Rotary District 7710
Produced by Fit & Able Productions, Inc.

District 7710 Mission: Our mission is to help needy people in the world have clean drinking water, because safe water helps to liberate people so they can live healthier, fuller, and more productive lives. At the same time we are going to raise awareness among Rotarians of the worldwide water crisis and improve Rotary's public image as a major player in the water and sanitation cause.

How Last Year's Proceeds were Used:

  • Global Grant #1635090 - ($4,425) helped provide a communal supply of potable drinking water to the three communities comprising Las Lagunas. Clean water is a much needed component for disease prevention, good health, and quality of life that the residents of this community lacked due to their extreme poverty.
  • Global Grant #1638575 - ($5,525) helped provide safe water and sanitation to the residents of Loma Negra, Piura, Peru. The project will include solar powered water treatment system, hygiene education, and empowerment in the form of a public utility, which will also create sustainability for future operation and maintenance expenses. A power flush latrine will be installed for each of (50) households.
  • Flint, Michigan - ($2,000) donated $2,000 to match the donation from the D7710 Disaster Relief Fund to the Rotary Club of Flint to help supply clean drinking water to Flint residents.

New Project - (5,000) for funding to provide a solar pumping system to bring fresh water from a high quality spring approximately 1.5 miles from Zorange. Zorange is a school located in the Village of Bigot, Haiti servicing kids from Pre-K thru 13. Zorange also serves over 5,000 community members per year as a public medical clinic. Currently Zorange gets its water from a rain water collection cistern and bucketed from a river approximately one (1) mile away.
