Description
I'm very excited to invite you to join me on my journey as your Miss Hmong America 2017. My name is Amy Paj Tshiab (Pachia) Yang and I'm hosting a 5K Run/ Walk (3.1 miles). Every participant registered will receive a race t-shirt and race bib. Only the top 5 finishers will receive a race metal. The race will not be chipped but we will have a large clock timer on display. Registration is now open and space is limited!
 
Children under 12 years old are welcomed to join for FREE if accompanied by an adult but if they ARE NOT registered, then they WILL NOT receive a race t-shirt or race bib. If you plan on bringing a stroller the day of the event, you will start with the walkers to avoid injuries to runners.
 
The purpose of this event is to fundraise for our children and families living in South East Asia (SEA). In 2013, I studied abroad in SEA to Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. I experienced how living in a developing country was like on a first hand basis. Some of these countries lack the simplest resources that we take advantage of here in the United States such as food, medicine, clean water and clean air. Therefore, I have partnered with an organization in which has dedicated more than three decades to helping people back in SEA.
 
All proceeds from the 5K Run/ Walk event will be given to Minors in Asia. Minors was established as a 501 (c) (3) Organization at Mankato, Minnesota, in 1984, originally as Minors In Need Of Resettlement, to provide family reunification and related assistance to orphaned and abandoned children in refugee camps in Thailand. Since 1990 they have worked to serve severely impoverished highland ethnic minority communities in Laos and Viet Nam.   • HOW:
    • Registration fee is $25 per person for either the 5K RUN or WALK
    • Prices will increase to $30 starting Thursday, August 17, 2017
    • The last day to register online is August 23, 2017.
    • Same-Day-Registeration is $30 for each individual if space is still available on August 26, 2017
