• 5K Run/Walk:- Run 3.1 Miles
• 2 Mile Run/ Walk:- Run 2 Miles

The Tyler Hook Hillmer Sunset Trail Walk/Run. This event is in memory of Tyler Hook Hillmer who was a freshman at Palmer Public School. He lost his life in a car accident August 23, 2013. He had a smile that melted your heart and loved having fun with family & friends. His favorite time of the day was Sunset where as a family we would listen to all the sounds of nature & enjoy the sun setting! The 1 mile, 2 mile & 5K walk/run will start at the Palmer High School Football Field Concession Stand heading down the pavement you will go past the Rose Hill Cemetery. If you would like to stop to see Tyler for a moment going or coming his grave will be marked. There will be signs marking the turn around point for the 1 mile & 2 mile shorter walk/runs. The 5K will continue on the country road where you where you will probably hear the crickets, locus, birds and see the beautiful sunset as it goes down. The trail will continue onto a minimum maintenance road. This road is scenic with trees and grass, and the possiblity of seeing a deer, rabbit or squirrel running on the road. You will continue to the "turn around point" on the minimum maintenance road and walk/run back the same direction on the country road, up one of our major sandy hills, past the Rose Hill Cemetery and to the finish line at the high school football field concession stand. The proceeds from the walk/run will go to the Tyler Hook Hillmer Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to graduating seniors at Palmer Public School.

615 PM Balloon Release at the Rose Hill Cemetery by Tyler

715 PM 1 Mile, 2 Mile, 5K Walk/Run starting at the Palmer High School Football Field Concession Stand

Why do we Walk/Run?-Tyler Hook Hillmer was a freshman at Palmer Public School. He lost his life in a car accident on August, 23, 2013. He had a smile you couldn't forget! Tyler was a happy, positive, easy going guy. He loved track, basketball, football, playing PS3 video games, loved listening to music and liked hanging out with friends and family. His favoite time of the day was sunset and he loved the rain. We would like to Thank-You for walk/running to celebrate his memory.

The Event-The balloon release will kick the night off at the Rose Hill Cemetery by Tyler (615 PM). Then we will head back to the Palmer High School Football Field Concession Stand to line up for the walk/run (715 PM).The walk/run will start as the sun is going down to enjoy some FUN activities at sunset. There will be some special FUN PERKS the night of the event!! You won't want to miss it!! Please NO PETS. We don't want a situation that they might be scared or hurt someone in a large crowd. Since we will have lots of walk/runners along the trail at one time, please be patient at the start of the walk/run. This event will NOT be officially timed; please enjoy a fun night with friends and family to remember Tyler. If you choose to pass through the cemetery going or coming to spend a moment with Tyler we will have his grave marked. We ask that everyone on the trail, please follow the standard trail etiquette because there will be a "turn around point" for all the runs and we will have walk/runner on both sides of the trail. Those with strollers, please start towards the back or off to the side of the pack and respect all trail etiquette and move to single file when walk/runners approach.

Who can Participate?-Everyone is welcome.

AD,Rob Wegner from the Palmer Public School received an email back from the NSAA as to how our run this fall may affect students. "They said that students can participate with the exception of students that are on the Cross Country Team. If those kids were to participate, they would have to sit out one cross country meet this fall. Other than that any student can participate."

Registration- T-shirt/Registration deadline is Monday, July 24, 2017 to guarentee a t-shirt. However, you can register up to Saturday, August 19, 2017 on location. Register at www.Active.com or you can mail a paper form to: Missy Hillmer 287 15th Ave., Palmer, NE 68864. All registrations after July 24, 2017 will pick up t-shirts at a later date.

NO Refund-We are planning on walk/running even if it rains. The only way the event would be canceled is if there is a major storm or lightening.

Extra PERKS- Plus a few extra Perks you will find out about the night of the event!! Don't want to miss it!!

Parking- There will be FREE parking at the Palmer High School. Please follow the signs or volunteers helping park.

Proceeds- From the walk/run will go to the Tyler Hook Hillmer Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors at Palmer Public School.
