Description

“Sometimes in rescue, everything pivots on being in the right place, at the right time and handling whatever comes your way.” (Kim Lee, Co-Founder Hope Animal Rescue)

A family & pet friendly event, with family activities,  attendance prizes, photo booths, bake sale, food vendors, & much more! Bring the family and come out a great time, watch some best-dressed dogs strut their stuff, meet some great folks, and help raise funds for a great cause!!!

We are “Hope”, in most cases a dog’s last Hope.  Hope Rescues ALL breeds.We help the homeless, the injured and the sick. We absorb over $10,000.00 in vet bills nearly every monthHope has saved the lives of over 3000 dogs since 2005.

Meet April, a Pocket Pitt, given up on by her previous owner, brought to Animal Control near death.  Luckily, Kim Lee, co-founder of Hope Animal Rescues, was there inquiring about a stray needing rescue.  At first glance one could tell she was definitely pregnant and in distress.  She could only move her eyes, literally nothing else moved. It was clear she and her puppies were in grave danger.  In rescue, you never take a delivery lightly; there are too many unknowns, the size of the male, medical backgrounds, etc. This little girl was critical and because she was so small, had more than likely been bred with a large male and the pups were too big for her to deliver so she was quickly rushed to Daniel Randall Vet Clinic in Godfrey IL.

April's puppies were too big for her to delivery naturally and the owner did nothing for her. For 3 days April was in labor, her puppies were literally decomposing inside of her and she developed Sepsis from it. She was extremely dehydrated and in dire need of emergency surgery. The x-ray showed 4-5 puppies; it did not look good for this tiny mother and her puppies. Although we hope to save mom and puppies, the pups were already dead.  They had been in there so long; they were infecting and killing the mom. They worked relentlessly in getting as much of the infected tissue out of her body as they could and once they were able to bring her out of the anesthesia, (which took a lot longer than normal because she was so exhausted) they decided that the chances of her developing sepsis were too great and that she needed to be moved to VSS for critical care.

After the emergency c-section April was Sepsis leading to further health issues including heart problems.  She has been to VSS in grave condition several times during her first month with us. However, April has the resilience of our runners; strong, determine, and pushing through to reach the finish line!

April’s vet bills to date amount to over $6,000.  Here at Hope Rescues we won’t give up on April, or others like her, the way her previous owner did.

In most cases we are a dog’s last Hope.  Hope Rescues ALL breeds. We help the homeless, the injured and the sick. We absorb over $10,000.00 in vet bills nearly every month. The rescue raises money through grants and fundraising only. .PLEASE helps us and join us for this year’s 5th Annual Run for the Rescue, benefiting Hope Animal Rescue.  Do it for all the miracles, like April.
