RUNNING, COSTUMES AND PUMPKINS….Oh my!

Put away your everyday running gear and get into the Halloween spirit by running in your favorite costume at the 4th Annual Emmaus Costume Spirit Run 5k on Sunday, October 15, 2017. The Spirit Run takes place along the scenic South Shore Riverfront Park, in the heart of the South Side Works.  The run is a chipped 5k loop or a family friendly 1-mile fun walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.  Awards will be given to respective age division 5k winners. 

Join us for the family fun festivities which include pumpkin painting, games, and more! Make no bones about it, this 5k is going to be a Spooktacular event! 

Costumes for all participants and supporters are encouraged.

Prizes awarded for best costumes!

All proceeds benefit the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh. Emmaus provides homes, services and advocacy for those with intellectual disabilities.

Online registration closes at midnight on October 12th.  Additional registrations can be completed on the day of the event.

Packet Pick Up:  Information to follow......

5k TIMING CHIPS:  You will notice that all timing chips are pre-assigned.  Please dispense your 5k race chips to its assigned race participant.  Chips need to attached to shoe laces prior to the start of the race.

Event Schedule:  7:30 am:  Same Day Registration Opens and Race Packet Pick Up Begins
8:30 am: Race Festivities Begin

Entertainment, raffles, and festivities will take place at South Shore Riverfront Park.

8:40 am: Pre-Race Warm Up

8:50 am: Runners Line Up

9:00 am:  5K Run Starts

9:05 am:  Walkers Line Up

9:10 am: 1 mile fun walk starts

10:15 am: Awards Ceremony for top runners in respective age division, followed by Best Costume Award and raffle winners announced.

Race course:

The run will be a chipped 5k loop on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, beginning and ending at the South Shore Riverfront Park.

The race starts at the South Shore Riverfront Park, near the Hofbraehaus on 27th street. Enjoy the rolling path along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail to the turnaround near 6th street.  The turnaround will bring you back along the same course you just ran or walked to the finish line, located where you started.  Best part of the race....NO HILLS!

Parking: South Side Works garages at 26th and Sydney St. or 28th and Sydney St.   Limited street parking is also available.  Runners, walkers and their fans are encouraged to wear costumes to the race!
