Description

Run or walk a 10K or 5K! Participate competitively or just for fun! Everyone is welcome, so bring the family and enjoy a day at the park with your local community!

Do It For Delaney is a community event for runners, walkers, families and friends to help special needs children. Do It For Delaney was originally created to raise funds for uncovered therapy costs for Delaney Thomas. Delaney was born with an extremely rare genetic CASK gene duplication resulting in microcephaly and cerebral palsy. Due to the community’s overwhelming support, Do It For Delaney has turned into a much larger event helping special needs children and their families.

We are excited to announce that Conductiva, a conductive education learning program, Friends of Children with Special Needs, a Bay Area resource for special needs families, and The Parker Lee Project, supporting medically dependent children will benefit from Do It For Delaney 2017.

Remote Racing We offer a "remote racing" option because we know not everyone can make it to the park on race day. If you would like to determine your own race course and date and receive some race materials by mail. You can register as a remote runner online.

We encourage you to share with the Do It For Delaney community what course you are going to run, your finish time and your photo's. We are excited to have you join us and look forward to hear about your run!

Those registering online by October 9th can expect their Do It For Delaney Remote Runner package to mailed by October 17.

The Kids All-Abilities Fun Race will be a 25-100 yard dash, varies by age group.

COURSE MARKING

All participants can receive a copy of the course map on race day. If this is your first time on this course, please take the time to familiarize yourself with the course and note the location of the water and aid stations and bathrooms. The course will be marked with ribbons and signs to help keep runners on the correct course. Volunteers will also be on the course at key locations to help direct runners.

WATER & AID STATIONS

Water and aid stations will be located at the start/finish of the race and approximately 1.5 miles into the 5K course. An additional water/aid station will be located at the turn around for the 10K. Should medical assistance be needed along the course, volunteers will be able to contact the Race Officials to attain medical aid. Runners who may need more water, should carry their own water bottle or hydration pack.

BATHROOMS

Bathrooms will be available at the race start/finish area. There are also two bathroom locations on the course.

RUNNING/WALKING CONDITIONS

The 10K & 5K route on gravel-like paths. While this does not pose any hazardous conditions (as Quarry Lakes hosts many Run/Walk events), participants should prepare accordingly. Parents with strollers are highly encouraged to use baby joggers with inflated, rubber wheels.

Note: The Kids All Abilities Run will be hosted on a paved road.

CHANGING DISTANCES

You can change your distance on race morning. Downgrading is free. Upgrading requires paying the difference between your paid registration fee and the race day registration fee.  On race day, pick-up your bib from the current distance you registered for, let them know you want to change your distance.  They will direct you to take your bib to the “change desk” and exchange it for the new distance.  Pay fees, if applicable.  Be sure to bring cash or a check.

EARLY BIB PICK-UP

If you register by October 15th, you can pick up your bib, race bag, and t-shirt at the following locations: TBD. If not, these items will be available on race day beginning at 8:00 am.  Save yourself time waiting in lines on race day and pick up your items early!
