JJC Haunted 5K Run/Walk

The Joliet Junior College Foundation and Athletics Department are proud to host the 4th annual Haunted 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, October 22, 2017 on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. All ages are invited to attend; in addition to the 5K, there will be a one-mile race for children under 12.

The past three Haunted 5K events at JJC were a huge success, with last year’s event hosting nearly 430 participants, helping to raise $40,000 for student scholarships, college programs and athletics.

Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes in this themed race. After the race, runners and their families are encouraged to stay for kid activities, face painting, candy and more.

Sunday, October 22, 2017

7:00 a.m. Race Day Registration/Packet Pick-up
8:30 a.m. One Mile Kids Monster Dash
9:00 a.m. Haunted 5K Run and Walk

The first 500 race registrants in the 5K and Monster Dash combined will receive Haunted 5K winter hats while supplies last. Kids who participate in the Monster Dash will also receive a medal.

WHERE
Joliet Junior College Main Campus 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet, IL 60431
Turn left at the first stop sign on campus. Proceed around the college to South Lot 7.

5K COURSE
A certified flat paved course around JJC’s spooky campus. The race will be timed using chip-timing. 

KIDS RACE
Kids ages 12 and under can run our one mile Monster Dash. All kids will receive a Haunted 5K hat and medal for participating.

TEAM PARTICIPATION
Two additional awards are available to the team with the most participants in the event (running and walking). Teams who sign up will receive a discount and only pay $25 per person (five person minimum). All teams must register online. No same day team registration or placement.

AWARDS
A tombstone award and $100 cash will be awarded to the top overall male and female in the 5K, based on gun time. Top male and female winners in each age group will receive a plaque. Second and third place finishers will get a medal, based on chip time.

AGE CATEGORIES
10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over.

POST RACE PARTY
You’re invited to stay after the race for kid activities, face painting, candy, food, entertainment and more.

Race results will be posted at jjc.edu/info/5K.
