2017 Ky-Hike-A-Bike Adventure Triathlon: (scroll down for race results) 

This is a short adventure race, good for beginners and fun for experienced racers, that has a kayaking leg instead of a swimming leg. It is being held in conjuction with the Welaka State Forest Fall Festival and proceeds will benefit the forest. This is the third year of the race and is being run by Putnam Blueways & Trails, a non-profit trail advocacy group in Putnam County, Florida. We provide transportation where needed and have safety boats in the water and rest stops on the course. We also have kayaks for rent if you need one. There is a meet and greet on Friday night before the event at Shrimp R' Us and More, a local restaurant. A list of places to stay can be found on the Putnam Blueways & Trails web site.

There are three legs of the race. the first is a 5K paddle on the St. John's River from Welaka town docks to John's Landing in the Welaka State Forest. The second leg is a 5K run from John's Landing to Mud Spring. The third leg is a 10K off road bicycle ride through the forest and ending back at Mud Spring where the competitors can take a refreshing dip. 

Welaka is located in the southern part of Putnam County along the St. Johns River. The forest is about a mile south of the center of Welaka on CR309. 

Coming from Palatka, it's about 18.5 miles. Go south on US17 to Satsuma and turn right at the light onto CR209 through Welaka.

Coming from Crescent City, take CR308 west for 8 miles to CR309. Turn right, north, for about 3 miles to Welaka State Forest headquarters.
