27th Special Olympics Annual Run 5K a.k.a. Soar 5K...

• 5K Run / Walk:- Run 3.1 Miles

Come join us for the 5K Special Olympics Annual Run in Athens, GA. SOAR is sponsored by many reputable businesses and all proceeds will go to the Clarke County Schools Chapter of Special Olympics. The race is open to runners, joggers, walkers and wheelchair participants of all ages.

Event details and schedule

Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Starts at 7AM

5K: Starts at 8:30AM

Awards: Awards and door prizes will be given out after the 5K. All pre-registered participants will be entered in a drawing. Pottery awards to the first three finishers (male and female) in age groups 15 and up. Trophies to the first three finishers (male and female) in age groups 14 & under. Door prizes will be presented immediately following the race.

Timing and Results: Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted to www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.coolrunning.comand www.runningintheusa.com.

Shirts and Goodies: All participants will receive an adult size, long-sleeved T-shirt, guaranteed on race day to those preregistered by 11/1/17 and to late and race day registrants as supplies last.  There will be plenty of refreshments.  You must be present to win the door prizes.

Series Affiliation: The race is part of the 2017 Black Bag Race Series.

Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on.  Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time.  If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time.  Sorry, no refunds.
