On Sunday, Nov. 12, the North Haven Rotary Club will sponsor the 6th annual Tessa Marie Memorial 5k Road Race & Fun Run. The road race will benefit local charities and causes supported by Tessa Marie’s family and The North Haven Rotary Club. The Tessa Marie Memorial 5k Road Race & Fun Run helps underprivileged children, and children in need of medical care and attention. As a club we feel that every child deserves the chance for a healthy and active life. Some children lack these opportunities — we want to help them.
In 2017 we will help Lea Doran and her family: Recently, members of our community, the founders and owners of Tuff Girl Fitness/FMA Performance, Christa and Mike Doran, have had to face the unimaginable. Their 6-year-old daughter Lea was diagnosed with a rare, high-grade gleoma called DIPG. This form of brain tumor is highly aggressive and difficult to treat — currently there is no known cure.
As fellow members of the community we are coming together to raise funds to assist the brave and strong Lea with her fight. If you would like to follow Lea's journey, please take a look at her mother's blog.
Half of the 5K and fun run proceeds will benefit Lea and her family. The other half will go towards other charities and causes supported by North Haven Rotary.
Here is the 5K and Fun Run course routes.
