Description

The 6th Annual Sierra Vista Sunrise Rotary Rising Sun Run Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K takes place in the foothills of the scenic Huachuca Mountains in southeast Arizona on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Event headquarters and the start/finish line will be at the corner of Buffalo Soldier Trail and St. Andrews Avenue, with event courses winding through country neighborhoods and Ramsey Canyon.

Event start times are as follows:

Half     6:45am

10K     7:15am

5K       7:25am

1M run run/walk – 7:30am

A chip timing system will be used. Timing will end at 10:15am and the event courses will close at 10:45am.

Onsite registration and packet pickup will be held on Friday, April 13, from 5:00-7:00pm at Race Headquarters (Huachuca Elementary at the corner of Buffalo Soldier and St. Andrews) for all three timed events. Same day packet pickup for Half Marathon runners will be from 6:00-6:15am. Same day registration and packet pickup for the 10K and 5K events will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 6:00am – 6:45am at Race Headquarters.

Aid stations will be located at race headquarters and on the course, including hydration stations, rest room facilities, and snacks. More details will be available on race day as to specific aid station locations. Participants registering by March 31 will be guaranteed a technical race shirt and a race day swag bag. NOTE: Specific shirt sizes will be available on a first come first served basis during registration pickup.

All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher medal. All 10K and 5K finishers will receive a participant ribbon. Participants in all events will receive post-race nutrition.

Dogs and strollers are allowed on the 5K run and 1M walking routes.

Awards presentations will be starting around 9:00am for Half Marathon, with other race awards following as the majority of runners have cleared the course.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top overall three finishers in each race category in both men’s and women’s divisions for events with 20 or more registered in each gender category.

Half Marathon – 1st place prize $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50

10K and 5K – 1st place prize $50, 2nd $35, 3rd $25.

Medals to the top three finishers by age brackets as follows for male and female winners of each race:

16 years and under

17-25 years

26-35 years

36-45 years

46-55 years

56-65 years

66 years and over
