The 58th annual Great River Road Run is a scenic out and back 10 mile run along the Great River Road Scenic Byway. With the massive bluffs on one side and the mighty Mississippi river on the other, along the way you could see barges moving slowly on the river, you might get a glimpse of the legendary Piasa Bird and perhaps you will even see an eagle soaring high above the bluffs!!! This is a great traditional race held the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year! We hand out over 400 medals and awards plus every 58th finisher wins a special prize which could be a gift card, free entry into next years race or even $58!  After the race be sure to enjoy the post race refreshments, bagels, fruit, donuts, juice, water, soda, etc.

Event details and schedule

Packet pickup and race day registration is from 8:00am to 9:30am arrive early to aviod the crowds

Packet pickup is at Mac's Time Out Lounge at 315 Belle St. Alton, IL 62002

Parking is available along the streets and in several public lots close to the start/finish line

The course is out and back along the river road, starting at State and Broadway

Dress according to the weather that day, running along the river does tend to be a bit breezy 

Race Day registration costs $50 and we take cash, check  or credit cards
