Saturday, November 4th at 7:30 a.m. The City of Ocoee Presents the Chick-fil-A 5K and Kids Fun Run. The Chick-fil-A 5K, certified course, starts and finishes near the intersection of McKey Street and Bluford Avenue.

To benefit Saving Young Hearts, a nonprofit organization founded in October 2006 by Dana “Andy” Anderson and Martha Lopez-Anderson in memory of their son, Sean Alexander Anderson. Sean was just 10 years old when he collapsed and died due to an undetected heart condition while rollerblading.

SYH is dedicated to the prevention of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and sudden cardiac death (SCD) in children and young adults by utlizing every resource available to provide heart screenings for early detection of risk factors and conditions that may lead to SCA/SCD, educating the public on ways that they, too, can help avert this often preventable tragedy from happening.

The SYH Board of Directors are all volunteers; there are no paid or salaried employees.

To date, SYH has provided free heart screenings to 1,163 children and young adults; placed 97 automated external defibrillators and facilitated CPR/AED training for 1,314 adult school staff, volunteers and students.
